GREG MANNING
a dozen billboard #1 hits!
Greg Manning is a highly accomplished pianist, composer, producer, engineer, and music director in the
contemporary jazz and smooth jazz world. A Berklee College of Music alumnus, he brings a unique multicultural
perspective to his music, born in Nigeria and raised in Switzerland before relocating to Los Angeles in 2002.
His diverse background—an amalgam of cultures—has shaped a career blending jazz, soul, and funk,
often described as "Soul-Jazz at its best." Exposed to jazz early through his parents, Manning began playing piano at age 12 and later studied piano and film scoring at Berklee.
Early in his career, he achieved significant success in Europe, becoming a three-time certified platinum producer for
Universal Music Switzerland with several Swiss chart-toppers dating back to 1996. He served as keyboardist and music director for GRAMMY Award-nominated artist Jonathan Butler, and performed as a keyboardist with artists including Mindi Abair, Gerald Albright, Will Downing, Richard Elliot, Brian McKnight, Chante Moore, and Kirk Whalum. After a decade of extensive touring across the U.S., Europe, South Africa, and the U.K., he shifted focus from the road to composing for film and television while continuing
his solo and production work.
Manning is a 2-time Grammy-recognized artist (associated with Herb Alpert and Keb' Mo'). He has composed and collaborated on multiple Billboard #1 hits in the smooth jazz genre, earning several "Song of the Year" awards
He has released five full-length solo albums and several successful singles. His most recent album A Song for Peace (a 10-track collection) features six recent hit radio singles plus four new tracks. Earlier highlights include Sugar and Spice (on Kalimba Records), with the title track reaching #5 on Billboard and spending 20 weeks on the charts, and the single “Twinkle” (a cover of Earl Klugh’s 1981 classic), which debuted at #29 on Billboard in 2020.
Recent work includes his radio single “Remember The Time,” a fresh reinterpretation of Michael Jackson’s 1991 classic.
Beyond solo releases, he has produced, mixed, and engineered for numerous artists including Les Sabler, Judah Sealy,
Charles Langford, Kevin Jackson, Debora Galan, Will Bradley, Rebecca Jade, and Ryan La Valette.
With a career spanning over three decades, Greg Manning remains a key figure
in smooth jazz as both a performer and behind-the-scenes powerhouse.
